Abstract

Modern herniology is directly related to the development and introduction of new advanced materials for prosthetic operations. The authors have attempted to explore the possibility of application of a devoiced xenopericardial plate for abdominal hernia plastics. Experimental study on 30 Wistar rats showed that the xen-opericardial plate displays good biointegration, does not cause rejection reactions and septic complications within 12 months of observation. The authors carried out xenopericardial hernioplasty in 34 patients. Within 24 months of monitoring no pros-thesis-associated complications and recurrences have been detected. The researchers have developed new methods of hernioplasty in inguinal and medial ventral hernias.

Key words
